Paramount Hotel Fire

There was a major fire at Paramount Hotel now known as the East Village Hotel in Marine Parade.   The blaze took the Singapore Civil Defence Force or SCDF 4 years to put down with 9 hospitalized and 50 civilians evacuated.   The fire was a major disaster at one point of which more than 80 SCDF staff fighting the fire.   The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

  1. The number of casualties escalated to eleven with four children, five adults and two fire-fighters.
